Etomaato, A Red Passion presented to European Commissioner Christophe Hansen during Thaifex Bangkok

etomaato red passion

The European project Etomaato, A Red Passion continues its international journey to promote European tomatoes across strategic Southeast Asian markets.

During Thaifex, one of Asia’s leading international food and beverage trade fairs currently taking place in Bangkok, the project was officially presented to the European Commissioner for Agriculture, Christophe Hansen.

This important institutional moment highlights the strategic value of the activities promoted by the OI Pomodoro da industria Bacino Centro Sud Italia, the organization committed to enhancing the European tomato supply chain through international promotion, information campaigns, and the dissemination of European agri-food culture.

A European project with an international vision

Etomaato, A Red Passion was created with the goal of strengthening the visibility and recognition of European tomatoes in non-EU markets, promoting the key values that distinguish European production:

  • certified quality;
  • food safety;
  • sustainable supply chains;
  • traceability;
  • Mediterranean agricultural tradition.

Through promotional activities, cooking shows, trade fair participation, seminars, and communication campaigns, the project is particularly focused on Thailand, Singapore, and Malaysia — markets that are increasingly attentive to high-quality agricultural products with guaranteed origins.

Thaifex: a strategic showcase for European tomatoes

Participating in Thaifex represents an important opportunity to engage with international buyers, Horeca professionals, distributors, and specialized media.

In this global environment, the European tomato is presented not only as a symbol of the Mediterranean diet, but also as the expression of a production culture built on agricultural expertise, innovation, and consumer care.

The presentation of the project to Commissioner Christophe Hansen also emphasizes the central role of European policies in promoting European agri-food excellence worldwide.

European tomatoes as ambassadors of culture and quality

The Etomaato, A Red Passion project aims to present the European tomato not simply as an agricultural product, but as a true ambassador of taste, identity, and tradition.

From cultivation to the table, every step of the supply chain contributes to creating a production model that combines authenticity with high-quality standards, strengthening the connection between territory, people, and gastronomic culture.

With activities increasingly focused on internationalization, Etomaato continues to strengthen the presence of European tomatoes in Asian markets, creating new connections between Europe and the world through the universal language of food.
